The Vientiane Capital Authority has officially announced the launch of the Donchan Park Riverside Development Project, a major urban development initiative aimed at transforming the lower riverside area of Donchan Park into a new landmark of the capital. The project is guided by the vision “Happiness Begins Here.”
According to the official notice dated 19 November 2025, the construction will take place along the Mekong River, extending from the Anouvong Statue Three-Way Intersection to the rear of Donchan Palace in Sisattanak District. The total development area covers approximately 31,500 square meters, with construction scheduled to begin on 17 November 2025 and continue through the end of 2026.
The project is managed by Intervia Real Estate Management Sole Co., Ltd., acting on behalf of the Kolao Group. Upon completion, the development will feature a modern riverside public park, community exercise areas, tourism and cultural activity zones, scenic sunset viewpoints along the Mekong River, and well-organized public parking facilities designed for safety and convenience
In addition to enhancing urban aesthetics and public spaces, the Donchan Park Riverside Development Project aims to promote tourism, preserve cultural activities and traditions, support local businesses and SMEs, and create new employment opportunities. These efforts are expected to contribute to the sustainable economic growth of Vientiane Capital and improve the overall quality of life for residents and visitors.
During the construction period, authorities kindly request cooperation from residents, workers, traders, and the general public in nearby areas to follow safety guidelines and instructions provided by onsite officials.
Strategically located along the Mekong River near Anouvong Park, That Khao Village, and within Sisattanak District, the Donchan Park Riverside Development Project represents a significant step toward a more modern, livable, and vibrant Vientiane Capital.
