Savan Park Special Economic Zone C, established in 2008, is a designated trade, industrial, and logistics zone located in Nakhon Phanom Province along Highway 9. Spanning an area of 234 hectares, it includes a seaport and is known for hosting 76 companies. The highest number of investments come from Thailand with 15 companies, followed by Laos with 12, Malaysia with 9, Japan with 6, and China with 6 companies.

Notable Companies

Among the notable companies operating in Savan Park are Urai Paint Lao Co., Ltd. (Thailand – house paint), Time Square Property Development Co., Ltd. (China – real estate development and warehouse leasing), Aeroworks Co., Ltd. (Netherlands – interior aircraft components), and Celestica Lao Co., Ltd. (Canada – manufacturing of telecommunications equipment and computer devices).

Joint Venture and Location of Savan Park Special Economic Zone C

Savan Park is a joint venture between the government of Lao PDR and Pacifica Streams Development Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian company. It was established with the intention of developing the first free trade industrial, commercial, and logistics hub in Lao PDR. The park is strategically located along the East West Economic Corridor (EWEC), bordering Mukdahan Province of Thailand. It offers multi-sea port access, with Danang Sea Port and Laem Chabang Sea Port nearby. It is also 8 km away from Savannakhet International Airport and has convenient road access to Vientiane.

Investors in Savan Park can enjoy tax holidays ranging from 2 to 10 years, with corporate income tax rates of 8% or 10% upon the expiry of the tax holiday. Personal income tax is a flat 5%, and dividend tax is also a flat 5%. The park provides essential infrastructure such as a power substation, treated water supply, waste water treatment facility, and telecommunications connectivity. Additionally, dormitories are available for employees with maximum security at minimum cost.

Investment Advantage at Savan Park Special Economic Zone C

The Savannakhet Special Economic Zone C, including Savan Park and Savannakhet Dry Port, has been successful in attracting investors. Currently, 193 companies are registered in the zone, with a total investment value of over US$584 million. These companies are involved in various sectors, with 74 in industry, 17 in commerce, and 102 in the service sector. Foreign companies contribute 56% of the investment value, Lao companies contribute 28%, and the remaining 16% comes from joint foreign and domestic companies.

Savan Park’s strategic location along Route No. 9, part of the East West Economic Corridor (EWEC), provides easy access to neighboring countries. It is approximately 3 kilometers from the Thailand border and 5 kilometers from Savannakhet International Airport. The EWEC, spanning 1,450 kilometers, connects Danang Port in Vietnam, Savannakhet Province in Lao PDR, Thailand, and ends at Mawlamvine Port in Myanmar.
