Latsavong Plaza to house Asean summit in Vientiane
Latsavong Plaza, one of the first military hospitality buildings in Vientiane will soon be ready to serve guests and, in particular, those attending the Asean summit meeting in 2016 in Vientiane.
Construction is nearly complete and the developer is now working on installing the electrical systems and the interior decoration of the building.
The project is located on a 150,000 square metre site and will include a 34 storey five-star hotel, an office building, an apartment building, a healthcare centre and a modern trade centre which will become the national trade centre in the future.
The Ministry of National Defence cooperated with the Chongqing F.U.N.D Real Estate Company of China on the construction of the project which is expected to cost more than 800 billion kip (US$99 million).
This is a major project, highly significant for trading, investment, tourism and real estate development. When the construction is completed, it will change much of the outward appearance of Vientiane and is expected to become something of an icon for the newer, more modern city.
National Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Sengnouan Sayalath and an official delegation toured the building recently to determine the progress of the construction project.
The Minister commented that most of work had been executed perfectly and he was confident that the project would be completed fairly soon and the plaza would be ready in time for the Asean summit meeting.
According to the official committee, most of major work on the 34 storey building has been completed successfully and the focus had been switched to the interior design.
In his remarks Lieutenant General Sengnouan added that China had been right at the top of investment in Laos since 2008, for the country's development as a whole and for the development of Vientiane.
He believed that the Latsavong Plaza project would establish a new standard of hospitality in Vientiane. It will be another new symbol of Laos and China cooperation with friendship. “The ministry promises to give all cooperation to the company for the success of the project.”
